Plaid Bandana

I borrowed this scarf from my mom a while ago. I love the plaid pattern and colors, but it is square-shaped, so I never really knew exactly how to wear it. I recently got back from a short trip to France, where my french sister was wearing a bandana around her neck. Plaid old, classic printed bandana – with shorts, cowboy boots and a plain tee – and she was completely adorable and super trendy! So when I got back, I tried to take this french style and make it my own, and it completely worked here! I got a lot of compliments on this scarf, and it totally made this outfit… along with my new favorite booties that I scored from TJMaxx for just $35! Ankle booties are super trendy right now, and are perfect for seasonal weather like we have had lately in New England! TJ’s had a pretty good stock!

A Blazer is a very quick and easy way to add a little class to any look. They can really be worn with anything, and are super “in” right now. It is the perfect little jacket to grab before work on a chilly morning, wear in the office, and even totally acceptable for drinks after work too! What more can you want from a piece? This one came from H&M last year, but I have a little black one that I scored from Salvation Army for just $5. I read somewhere a while ago that Thrift stores are loaded with blazers, and boy was that article right. If you are ever strolling by, drop in and take a look for yourself, and you may just find a little deal and new jacket! Just make sure to push up or roll the sleeves, that is the trend! Happy hunting! Thanks for reading!

Summer Pop Color take 2

I have to say that the color combination of black and white with a pop color is one of my favorite looks, (see post from here and here as well). This open front type of cardigan is called a “cocoon cardigan”. The style is very cute and trendy, but I have to give a tip to anyone wearing one. I had a hard time finding tops to wear underneath this cardi, until I realized what the problem with it actually was. I find that when I wear a looser fitting shirt underneath this type of cardigan, it tends to make me look a lot wider and heavier than I really am. Plus, with this one, it doesn’t help that it has stripes too! So with that said, if you do decide to sport this style, please make sure you are wearing something a little more fitted underneath, so it will keep you looking slim. Hope this little note will help someone rocking this style! Thanks for reading! 🙂

A lot of blogs have been doing looks that consist of chic black and white looks. Inspired, I pulled together this outfit from items I already owned. The tank is from JCPenney last year, very simple and casual, but worked perfectly with this look. I scoured the interwebs to find a bunch of other cute black and white tank top options if you are interested in trying this look on your own! Check you closet first though, cause you may already own a nice top you could pair with white pants to recreate this look in your own way! Make sure to add a nice pop color into your look – it is super trendy and cute, and perfect for the warmer summer months. Sometimes you can work in a few pop colors, like I did here with the necklace and clutch. Hope everyone tried this look out, it is very chic and kind of fun! Happy hunting, and have a great weekend!

The vest and necklaces here totally make this outfit. Imagine this look without those two items… it would be acceptable, but really nothing special. It can be that easy to add a few pieces to an ensemble to pull it all together and make it look more on trend and stylish just like that. This is a very simple way to spice up a look. As I have mentioned before, vests are super “in” this season – from crochet (like mine) to denim and more jacket-like vests – I am all about it! Adding dimension to an outfit is also slimming, Looser layers like this one can help hide some of the curves of your body you may want to conceal (hello love handles)! To see a few other ways I have styled this vest, you can see the same one here and here.

Another summer sun dress! Hope everyone had a good Holiday weekend, mine was nice and relaxing! This is such a cute summer dress, who would have thought that a seagull print would be so fun?!? There are so many sun dress options out there, and as I have said before, it is such an easy outfit that always looks cute and stylish. Plus, it is always nice to not have to think about what pair with your colored jeans or fun skirts, your outfit is already complete with a dress. EASY! These photo’s were taken in my back yard… I like to garden, so I am totally loving all of the blooming flowers in the background!

I went shopping last weekend! I had a gift card that I got for my birthday that I have been “saving”, and last Saturday was 100% the day to use it. I found SO many items that I really wanted at TJMaxx, it was a”hit” day. I am trying to save money, so I tried really hard to only buy items that I really wanted, and not to go over the amount that was on my gift card. I was proud of myself for putting things back that I didn’t “need”, and I only spent $1.16 over my budget! It was a good day for me! I ended up buying 2 dresses (the one in this post), and these fabulous Franco Sarto wedges. I have been looking for another pair of brown wedges because they go with everything. These are 4″ heels, taller than I normally wear, but they just might be the most comfortable shoes I own. Thank you Franco Sarto, I guess you will be a brand I stick with and suggest!

I have been wearing a lot of dresses lately, but it’s summertime, so why not? Running errands, working, grocery shopping… I still notice what people are wearing and how stylish they are! If you have summer dresses sitting in your closet, there is no better time to be wearing them, so dust them off and rock them before fall comes and you miss out!! It is an easy way to be chic, comfortable and stylish for the season, and who doesn’t feel good when you know you look good?!? 😉

I love when I find a great piece at a great price at TJMaxx. I snagged this blouse back in the spring, and loved it instantly! It is so light and airy — perfect for the summer heat! It has the cutest little details on the chest, and the back of the blouse is sheer, adding a sexy edge! I usually wear this tank draped casually as shown, but it is a very versatile piece, and would look great tucked into a navy pencil skirt with nude pumps for a day in the office… and I just gave myself a new post idea! These peacock earrings were gifted for my birthday last year, one of my friends made them! I receive a lot of compliments whenever I wear them, so naturally I like them a lot! I have on my normal stack of bracelets, and am digging my new hot pink nail polish too, I love to have that pop of color, especially in the summer!

Aren’t these wedges so fun?! I got them when I was in college for $13 at Burlington Coat Factory!  They are very comfy, and perfect to jazz up an outfit without being over the top. I feel like this outfit looks like I am ready for a picnic, but I think it’s still cute 🙂

I did a sock bun post a while back (here), but here it is again, perfect for those hot days when you just need your hair off your neck, and very chic. I actually did my hair this way for a wedding last year too. Super simple and always comes out perfect, 100% worth trying out!

PS: Has everyone checked out Bloglovin’? It is a new site for bloggers from all blogging engines (wordpress, blogger, etc.) and followers to have all of their posts in one place. For me, I go to about 5 different blogger sites a day, (some of my favorites are Kacies Kloset, Ring my Bell, Kendi Everyday, A Fashion Love Affair, etc, etc, etc) AND read a bunch I follow through wordpress. This makes my life much easier, cause I can just sign, and see all of my favorite bloggers’ most up to date posts all in one place listed one after another. I set my page up yesterday, and am following all of my favorite blogs already, and really liking the idea of it so far. The site is also broken down into categories, so you can search by “fashion”, or “cooking” for example to find new blogs to follow too. Def worth looking into if you enjoy my blog! Lauren’s Look is on there too!

This is the first day testing out my new camera that I got for my birthday! Just an everyday outfit for work today, pretty casual. Again, having the versatility of a cardigan is key to be ready in my tank to get my bronze on during lunch break when it’s 75 degrees out with not a cloud in the sky! Then once lunch break is over, I put my sweater back on and drag myself back into the icebox. That is my life 5 days a week in the summer, just wishing I could be outside in the sun all day and not limiting my time to just 1 hour! But hey, have to work to afford my hobby/obsession/addiction of shopping! A little more info about me on today’s post! 🙂
