Mixed media

This is one of my first fall looks! Some of the days this fall have been cooler, and some warmer, very “New England”, so outfits are all over the place! I am wearing my favorite trench coat in these shots. I saw this Cynthia Rowley beauty last year at TJMaxx, and knew it was a winner. The mixed media top I have on is by Olivia Moon, Mixed fabric is a huge trend right now – you see it often with leather as one of the materials. It is all over the runways, blogs, and fashion retailers (good stuff at Piperlime). The printed part of the top (zebra) is a soft, satin-like fabric, while the sleeves are a marled knit. I LOVE the combo here, this was one of those tops that you see and MUST have regardless of the price (luckily it was completely reasonable — thanks TJ’s!) When you are out shopping for fall and winter items this season, make sure to get some mixed fabric tops and/or jackets to stay on trend! Happy shopping!

My Hips don’t lie

I have tried on a lot of Peplum-style tops because I love the look of them, but none of them ever seemed to be very flattering on me so when I found this one I was pumped! I got this one on my birthday from TJMaxx, one of my top favorite places to shop! The style is all over the place this summer, they are everywhere you look and shop. They are very cute, but can also be very tricky. The style is very short compared to some of the longer-bodied styles that have been on trend as of lately, and the shape of it really gives you an exaggerated hourglass figure if you are up for it. It does draw attention your waist and hips, so if you have wider hips already, you may want to stay away from adding additional fabric and attention to them. Because it comes in so tightly at the waist, that should give you a little more definition there to add a little more woman to your shape. I have a few cute options listed below of styles I liked, but do keep in mind, these tops are not for everyone, I had a hard time finding one that worked with my body-type.

Happy hunting!

Baby blue Cardi and Flares

This is the first day testing out my new camera that I got for my birthday! Just an everyday outfit for work today, pretty casual. Again, having the versatility of a cardigan is key to be ready in my tank to get my bronze on during lunch break when it’s 75 degrees out with not a cloud in the sky! Then once lunch break is over, I put my sweater back on and drag myself back into the icebox. That is my life 5 days a week in the summer, just wishing I could be outside in the sun all day and not limiting my time to just 1 hour! But hey, have to work to afford my hobby/obsession/addiction of shopping! A little more info about me on today’s post! 🙂

To the Max

This is the only maxi skirt I own! The Chevron pattern like this has been pooping up all over the place in the last 2 years, very popular and trendy design. I am hoping to gain a few more maxi skirts this summer, they are so comfortable I could sleep in one, yet style stylish and classy. Definitely a staple piece to add to your summer wardrobe if you don’t have one already, and they are great for all ages!!

Hope everyone has a good start to their week!

Red Sweater for Spring

It’s almost May! The weather is finally starting to turn around and it’s getting warmer outside! I got this knit top on sale at Lucky a few years ago. I never wore it that much back then, but I seem to like and wear it more now then when I bought it! (Glad I never got rid of this one)! I am pretty good at getting rid of clothes I don’t wear anymore. I try to stick by a rule – if I haven’t worn something for an entire season, it is time to get rid of it!! Every now and then there are some items I cannot part with, but I try to think of it this way, “if I get rid of this, it makes room for something new”, which usually gives me the kick in the butt I need to move on! Nothing like a good winter clothing clean-out and getting out my summer clothes!

These boots are made for Walking…

DSC_0478 DSC_0475

These boots are so much fun, they really are one of my favorites, another great find from TJMaxx a few years back. This necklace, blouse and boots I see as living in completely different categories of style, but once I tried them all together, I thought they made a nice combination. This look is very laid back, relaxed and fun. I could wear this look to work on casual Friday, out for girls night at the bar, or doing some errands around town over the weekend. Very versatile! Thanks for checking out my Outfit of the Day!

Pallet Party

Yay for color blocking! I like this look a lot, I think it works because the grayscale colors of the sweater really stand out and flow nicely with the pop of the red pants. The Black boots help to ground the color, and even it out a little too. The pallet boards are a pretty cool background too!

Maroon flyaway

Yeah! I love this outfit! I really wanted to come up with more outfits to wear with these maroon skinny’s before it is too far into spring (they are more winter-ish to me!) and this was what I found! It is casual but it all came together really nicely! This belt is Nine West, was a gift. I don’t wear it as often as I should… it really is a great belt. I think I need to work on adding more belts and accessories to my wardrobe, cause then I turn out with a great ensemble like this one! This just goes to show how much some good accessories can MAKE an outfit! Thanks for reading!

Black and Leopard

I love these boots. You can see my story behind them here! Basic tee’s whether long or short sleeve can really be dressed up with accessories. It is also pretty cheap to wear an outfit like this, as basics are usually under $10, and accessories can be cheap if you are savvy about it! Prints are very big this spring,  so make sure you have some printed tops, scarves and even bottoms if you are daring enough! I haven’t decided yet if I can pull off printed bottoms… and it is all about the confidence! I guess we will see! Have a nice weekend!

Weather is still cold in New England! Got on my favorite red knit hat and scarf. I have to say I do like this outfit, but I am totally ready for the 80-degree sunny summer days to come rolling back in ANY time now! This is a great wool coat, came from H&M a few years back, and it goes with almost everything. I Love the look of black on black like with this outfit, it makes me feel very “chic”. The dark color really makes the red pop… this scarf gets a lot of use!

Happy Friday, have a good weekend!
