A lot of blogs have been doing looks that consist of chic black and white looks. Inspired, I pulled together this outfit from items I already owned. The tank is from JCPenney last year, very simple and casual, but worked perfectly with this look. I scoured the interwebs to find a bunch of other cute black and white tank top options if you are interested in trying this look on your own! Check you closet first though, cause you may already own a nice top you could pair with white pants to recreate this look in your own way! Make sure to add a nice pop color into your look – it is super trendy and cute, and perfect for the warmer summer months. Sometimes you can work in a few pop colors, like I did here with the necklace and clutch. Hope everyone tried this look out, it is very chic and kind of fun! Happy hunting, and have a great weekend!

It could be the two-tone necklace, the gold chain-laced straps, or the white and gold mix that give off a Grecian vibe to this look. It was a very hot day, and the simplicity of this outfit was perfect for fighting the heat! This “braided” braid is my new favorite summer hair style. Since my hair has a lot of layers, when I do a regular braid, I always have pieces sticking out everywhere. With this style of braid, everything is very tight and there are no little ends sticking out. It is so easy to do, stays in all day and is hassle free! 3 Steps: Separate hair into 3 sections like you would to do a regular braid. Braid each section as its own braid. Then, use each braid as you would with sections, and braid them together. Good luck to all who attempt this easy breezy summer style! 🙂

Doubles as a vest!

So this was the first time I decided to unbutton this shirt and wear it as a vest… I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner, but now I may need to do a once-over of my closet and see what else I can wear this way as well! I love this top, and I get a lot of compliments every time I wear it! American Rag really has some great stuff, you can find it in the Junior’s section at Macy’s for pretty decent prices. There are a lot of really cute details in this shirt – the tie back, the cute floral print and little pleating detail shown in the close-up photo. It’s really a very simple outfit, but worked for a sticky humid day in Massachusetts! Vests, layers and overshirts are all very popular this year, so a tip – take a closer look through your closet at your button ups, tanks and tee’s, because some may be able to double as a vest! This is a great way to save money and get more wear out of the clothes you already own!

Another summer sun dress! Hope everyone had a good Holiday weekend, mine was nice and relaxing! This is such a cute summer dress, who would have thought that a seagull print would be so fun?!? There are so many sun dress options out there, and as I have said before, it is such an easy outfit that always looks cute and stylish. Plus, it is always nice to not have to think about what pair with your colored jeans or fun skirts, your outfit is already complete with a dress. EASY! These photo’s were taken in my back yard… I like to garden, so I am totally loving all of the blooming flowers in the background!

Outfit #1 info:

This striped dress is super comfy and kind of a staple piece. It was really cheap at H&M last year, but they have basically the same thing now too (see link below). I always tend to wear it with something over it because it is a little too form-fitting for me, but it always looks great with something over it. I could actually wear a sweater, tee, or even just plain tank and have the dress look more like a skirt too. Pretty versatile piece for a dress, and 100% worth the $8.00 I paid for it! I have always wanted to wear a dress paired with these little converse sneaks too, and today I made this work! It really tones down a dress by adding sneakers, and it’s not a very common look, but I always love it when I see it. Dresses and skirts are often being paired with the new trendy wedge sneakers too, but my Converse are a little more classic with this look. Like my new bright orange nail polish? I thought it was fun for the summer! 😉

Outfit #2 Info:

This outfit was more of a rainy day outfit. As of now, it doesn’t look like the weather will be great on Thursday, so at least I already have options in my head for both weather situations! I wear this cardi pretty often – it’s kind of my go-to! It is a little more orange/coral than red, but it worked for the look and people noted my holiday spirit! I have had this little apple-print tank for so long, and it has always been one of my favorites because it is so cute, comfy and easy to throw on. I found it fitting to wear my boat shoes with this outfit, I just thought they went with the theme. Some people boat on the 4th!

Blue Cut Out Dress

This cut-out style is very “in” this year, there are so many dresses that are designed based on this trend. They are adding this design detail to every style of dresses, from Maxi’s, to Bodycon (frame hugging), fitted or flared, tight or loose dresses, and even carrying the style over to tank tops too. Some have cut-outs on the back, sides, shoulders, and some are even strategically placed on, around, above or below the chest! This dress fits me perfectly and is super comfy, and the back detail is pretty subtle so it can be worn for a few different occasions, I love it! It’s almost like the slogan, “business in the front, party in the back”! If you are headed to any weddings of dressier functions this summer, keep the cutout style in mind, even if it is just a tiny one, you will still be on trend! I love the pop color of my nail polish with this dress too, I just got them done a few days ago, now my toes need to catch up and get a fresh coat too!

This is the first day testing out my new camera that I got for my birthday! Just an everyday outfit for work today, pretty casual. Again, having the versatility of a cardigan is key to be ready in my tank to get my bronze on during lunch break when it’s 75 degrees out with not a cloud in the sky! Then once lunch break is over, I put my sweater back on and drag myself back into the icebox. That is my life 5 days a week in the summer, just wishing I could be outside in the sun all day and not limiting my time to just 1 hour! But hey, have to work to afford my hobby/obsession/addiction of shopping! A little more info about me on today’s post! 🙂

So today I’m wearing my outfit from the Memorial day party I attended. I thought this was fun, cute and pretty casual for a party look… I actually felt like I was wearing my PJ’s! This maxi skirt is so soft and effortless, I am going to have to start wearing it more often! I always have a hard time finding something toned down enough to wear this necklace with, but thought it worked well  with this neckline. I got this necklace a year ago while visiting my friend is Florida, at Charming Charlie, which we now have in MA too. She described the store to me as a grown up version of Claire’s, and she was dead on! If you have not been here yet, it is worth checking out!

I just picked up this skirt a few weeks ago. It is very basic and inexpensive, but I want to try to get more skirts into my wardrobe, and cheaper is always better! I actually am loving how this outfit turned out! The tank is a little long, but if tucked in (or shrank a little in the washing machine) it should be okay. The shoes were the most expensive part of the outfit actually, everything else was either found on clearance or just really inexpensive… You just have to be willing to look for the deals! This is one of those feel good outfits 🙂

Hope everyone has a great long Memorial Day weekend!

As I have said before, printed pants are a huge trend for this summer. Snake-skin, Floral, polka dots, camouflage and even animal print – they are everywhere! The Gap had a lot of cute ones this season if you are still looking to pick one up this season. These pants are from Express. It is easy to pair them with basic colors like black, white or grey, but they are also cute with blazers, button ups, and especially chambray, another huge trend this spring too (example here). Chambray by definition is, “a lightweight plain weave cloth originally from Cambrai (France), woven in greige (raw form), then bleached and piece-dyed. Initially made of linen, then cotton in the 19th century”.
