Plaid Bandana

I borrowed this scarf from my mom a while ago. I love the plaid pattern and colors, but it is square-shaped, so I never really knew exactly how to wear it. I recently got back from a short trip to France, where my french sister was wearing a bandana around her neck. Plaid old, classic printed bandana – with shorts, cowboy boots and a plain tee – and she was completely adorable and super trendy! So when I got back, I tried to take this french style and make it my own, and it completely worked here! I got a lot of compliments on this scarf, and it totally made this outfit… along with my new favorite booties that I scored from TJMaxx for just $35! Ankle booties are super trendy right now, and are perfect for seasonal weather like we have had lately in New England! TJ’s had a pretty good stock!

A Blazer is a very quick and easy way to add a little class to any look. They can really be worn with anything, and are super “in” right now. It is the perfect little jacket to grab before work on a chilly morning, wear in the office, and even totally acceptable for drinks after work too! What more can you want from a piece? This one came from H&M last year, but I have a little black one that I scored from Salvation Army for just $5. I read somewhere a while ago that Thrift stores are loaded with blazers, and boy was that article right. If you are ever strolling by, drop in and take a look for yourself, and you may just find a little deal and new jacket! Just make sure to push up or roll the sleeves, that is the trend! Happy hunting! Thanks for reading!

A lot of blogs have been doing looks that consist of chic black and white looks. Inspired, I pulled together this outfit from items I already owned. The tank is from JCPenney last year, very simple and casual, but worked perfectly with this look. I scoured the interwebs to find a bunch of other cute black and white tank top options if you are interested in trying this look on your own! Check you closet first though, cause you may already own a nice top you could pair with white pants to recreate this look in your own way! Make sure to add a nice pop color into your look – it is super trendy and cute, and perfect for the warmer summer months. Sometimes you can work in a few pop colors, like I did here with the necklace and clutch. Hope everyone tried this look out, it is very chic and kind of fun! Happy hunting, and have a great weekend!

As you probably know by now, I love my bargains!! This entire outfit is pretty reasonably priced, especially when you take into account all of the layered items here! It is pretty trendy right now to layer necklaces as well as apparel. Since I normally wear statement necklaces, (it would be way overkill to layer those puppies) it was nice for a change to be able to work that jewelry trend here. H&M makes these jersey mini skirts for just $5.95 — not even on sale! They have tons of fun colors, and it is a very easy bottom to wear for summer. They are now making a jersey pencil version too, Old Navy actually has a bunch for pretty cheap here for more of a work-wear solution! Every other part of this outfit was not bought this year, but it’s always good when you can work in older pieces with newer styles to get more out of your wardrobe!

This striped dress is super comfy and kind of a staple piece. It was really cheap at H&M last year, but they have basically the same thing now too (see link below). I always tend to wear it with something over it because it is a little too form-fitting for me, but it always looks great with something over it. I could actually wear a sweater, tee, or even just plain tank and have the dress look more like a skirt too. Pretty versatile piece for a dress, and 100% worth the $8.00 I paid for it! I have always wanted to wear a dress paired with these little converse sneaks too, and today I made this work! It really tones down a dress by adding sneakers, and it’s not a very common look, but I always love it when I see it. Dresses and skirts are often being paired with the new trendy wedge sneakers too, but my Converse are a little more classic with this look. Like my new bright orange nail polish? I thought it was fun for the summer! 😉

Outfit #2 Info:

This outfit was more of a rainy day outfit. As of now, it doesn’t look like the weather will be great on Thursday, so at least I already have options in my head for both weather situations! I wear this cardi pretty often – it’s kind of my go-to! It is a little more orange/coral than red, but it worked for the look and people noted my holiday spirit! I have had this little apple-print tank for so long, and it has always been one of my favorites because it is so cute, comfy and easy to throw on. I found it fitting to wear my boat shoes with this outfit, I just thought they went with the theme. Some people boat on the 4th!

I went shopping last weekend! I had a gift card that I got for my birthday that I have been “saving”, and last Saturday was 100% the day to use it. I found SO many items that I really wanted at TJMaxx, it was a”hit” day. I am trying to save money, so I tried really hard to only buy items that I really wanted, and not to go over the amount that was on my gift card. I was proud of myself for putting things back that I didn’t “need”, and I only spent $1.16 over my budget! It was a good day for me! I ended up buying 2 dresses (the one in this post), and these fabulous Franco Sarto wedges. I have been looking for another pair of brown wedges because they go with everything. These are 4″ heels, taller than I normally wear, but they just might be the most comfortable shoes I own. Thank you Franco Sarto, I guess you will be a brand I stick with and suggest!

I have been wearing a lot of dresses lately, but it’s summertime, so why not? Running errands, working, grocery shopping… I still notice what people are wearing and how stylish they are! If you have summer dresses sitting in your closet, there is no better time to be wearing them, so dust them off and rock them before fall comes and you miss out!! It is an easy way to be chic, comfortable and stylish for the season, and who doesn’t feel good when you know you look good?!? 😉

I just picked up this skirt a few weeks ago. It is very basic and inexpensive, but I want to try to get more skirts into my wardrobe, and cheaper is always better! I actually am loving how this outfit turned out! The tank is a little long, but if tucked in (or shrank a little in the washing machine) it should be okay. The shoes were the most expensive part of the outfit actually, everything else was either found on clearance or just really inexpensive… You just have to be willing to look for the deals! This is one of those feel good outfits 🙂

Hope everyone has a great long Memorial Day weekend!

As I have said before, printed pants are a huge trend for this summer. Snake-skin, Floral, polka dots, camouflage and even animal print – they are everywhere! The Gap had a lot of cute ones this season if you are still looking to pick one up this season. These pants are from Express. It is easy to pair them with basic colors like black, white or grey, but they are also cute with blazers, button ups, and especially chambray, another huge trend this spring too (example here). Chambray by definition is, “a lightweight plain weave cloth originally from Cambrai (France), woven in greige (raw form), then bleached and piece-dyed. Initially made of linen, then cotton in the 19th century”.

This outfit looked very nautical to me, but then again I am wearing boat shoes! The dress I got from H&M last year for just $8, and they have the same one this year, probably because it is a pretty basic piece. The Cardigan came from the company I work for, it’s a development sample, and it just so happens that most of our samples fit me (good perk)! I work for the Company listed below, ’47 Brand, they sell licensed sports apparel and every now and then we get a few blank samples, which I (not being a sports fan), love! The company is most recently known for making this “Boston Strong” hat. If you click here, you can learn more about the company if you are interested in seeing what they’re all about!

Changing up the look a little today with a dress! Still a little cold out for bare legs, but Spring is getting closer and closer! This dress is pretty casual for a dress, it’s from TJMaxx. There are soo many super cute spring dresses out everywhere already, I want to buy them all! Since I never like to wear the same dress twice (more formal dresses), I am always looking for something cute, sexy AND importantly cheap… I do have to be able to afford my own rules! My secret place to get a good deal on a dress, whether casual or dressy, is Burlington Coat Factory… good selection, great dresses and awesome prices! They also have great home decor there too as a bonus! Hope you like the dress, thanks for reading!
