MEET LAUREN CHAGNON: ’47 BRAND STYLIST

How would you define your style?
Me and my photographer had a blast doing this shoot (Thanks TT)! We took a ride down to the local farm stand and did some walking shots in between the rows of beautiful fall colored mums and picturesque apple trees. The weather was perfect and my outfit was super fall looking. This knit top came from Nordstrom last year. It is one of my favorite tops, but the quality of it is very poor. I have a very hard time not putting holes in it every time I wear it, and not to mention the fact that I cannot wear a necklace with it cause it will get caught! Finally getting to the point of wearing my knee-high boots again too… and these just might be my favorite ones!
I don’t think I talk often about my bracelets, so today I have a few words! I like to wear lots of bracelets together at a time, and this outfit was perfect for that since I couldn’t wear a necklace (have to pile on the femininity somewhere!!). I am totally digging Alex and Ani Bracelets. They are the hottest thing right now, and have completely overtaken New England. If you live outside of here, you may want to stock up when you visit, cause they will make it to your town eventually and will be an instant hit. This way you can be the cool girl who had one (or 5) before everyone else 😉 They can be found at the Paper Store, some jewelry stores and online at their site (link below).

This is one of my first fall looks! Some of the days this fall have been cooler, and some warmer, very “New England”, so outfits are all over the place! I am wearing my favorite trench coat in these shots. I saw this Cynthia Rowley beauty last year at TJMaxx, and knew it was a winner. The mixed media top I have on is by Olivia Moon, Mixed fabric is a huge trend right now – you see it often with leather as one of the materials. It is all over the runways, blogs, and fashion retailers (good stuff at Piperlime). The printed part of the top (zebra) is a soft, satin-like fabric, while the sleeves are a marled knit. I LOVE the combo here, this was one of those tops that you see and MUST have regardless of the price (luckily it was completely reasonable — thanks TJ’s!) When you are out shopping for fall and winter items this season, make sure to get some mixed fabric tops and/or jackets to stay on trend! Happy shopping!

This was my inspiration for this look. I changed it around a little and made it my own by adding the necklace, scarf, and the pop of color with my favorite clutch. The idea of mixing the printed pant with a beige top and white tank came from this stylist! Rachel Parcell of Pink Peonies has amazing style and is one of my favorite bloggers. She is 100% someone to follow for inspiration! The weather here in New England is getting a little chilly, so I had to go with a bootie rather than heels like she paired the look with, but I think I actually prefer my look!

I borrowed this scarf from my mom a while ago. I love the plaid pattern and colors, but it is square-shaped, so I never really knew exactly how to wear it. I recently got back from a short trip to France, where my french sister was wearing a bandana around her neck. Plaid old, classic printed bandana – with shorts, cowboy boots and a plain tee – and she was completely adorable and super trendy! So when I got back, I tried to take this french style and make it my own, and it completely worked here! I got a lot of compliments on this scarf, and it totally made this outfit… along with my new favorite booties that I scored from TJMaxx for just $35! Ankle booties are super trendy right now, and are perfect for seasonal weather like we have had lately in New England! TJ’s had a pretty good stock!

Printed pants are so in! They are popping up all over the place this year. Gap had a lot of prints in their “skimmer” ankle length denim this summer, and have already rolled out a whole new set of prints for fall along with the other big name stores. This was my “test”/”safe” printed pant! I was a little unsure of how I felt about them, so I picked up a cheap pair from Forever 21, with one of the most simple prints — polka dots! I do like them, but still have a hard time finding items to pair them with! What do you think of printed denim?

A Blazer is a very quick and easy way to add a little class to any look. They can really be worn with anything, and are super “in” right now. It is the perfect little jacket to grab before work on a chilly morning, wear in the office, and even totally acceptable for drinks after work too! What more can you want from a piece? This one came from H&M last year, but I have a little black one that I scored from Salvation Army for just $5. I read somewhere a while ago that Thrift stores are loaded with blazers, and boy was that article right. If you are ever strolling by, drop in and take a look for yourself, and you may just find a little deal and new jacket! Just make sure to push up or roll the sleeves, that is the trend! Happy hunting! Thanks for reading!

I have to say that the color combination of black and white with a pop color is one of my favorite looks, (see post from here and here as well). This open front type of cardigan is called a “cocoon cardigan”. The style is very cute and trendy, but I have to give a tip to anyone wearing one. I had a hard time finding tops to wear underneath this cardi, until I realized what the problem with it actually was. I find that when I wear a looser fitting shirt underneath this type of cardigan, it tends to make me look a lot wider and heavier than I really am. Plus, with this one, it doesn’t help that it has stripes too! So with that said, if you do decide to sport this style, please make sure you are wearing something a little more fitted underneath, so it will keep you looking slim. Hope this little note will help someone rocking this style! Thanks for reading! 🙂
